Alice Furlong – U of Colorado, Boulder 2015-2019
In which country, state, city… do you live now? Boulder, Colorado
Why did you decide to live there? I’m living in Boulder in order to attend the University of Colorado Boulder
What are you doing for work now? Going to school (CU Boulder)
If you have a significant other, please tell us about him or her. I have a boyfriend of about a year and a half who studies electrical engineering
Do you have kids? Please share their names and ages. No
Do you still have family and friends in the Roaring Fork Valley? Yes my family is still in the valley. My little brother is a freshman in high school. Most of my friends from growing up are also away at school.
Where and when did you graduate from college? I am going to be a junior at CU Boulder next year
What did you study in college? Biochemistry
Which degrees have you achieved? None… Yet!!
Are you still working toward a certification or degree? Yes
What’s an important lesson you learned from your schooling? Most things are possible with enough effort
What do you like to do in your spare time and why? I like to spend a bunch of time with my friends, which mostly includes my roommate Elle and my boyfriend Chris. Of course when I’m home I spend as much time with family as possible. One of my biggest hobbies is gardening. I have been having some fun with seedlings this spring that will eventually make it into a raised garden bed my roommate and I rigged for our porch.
Tell us about your favorite place or experience. My favorite experiment is driving back into Boulder after having been home for a while. I like the feeling of coming back to this place I have been able to make into a home. I also love the feeling of seeing so many people around.
What are your plans (or dreams) for the future? Right now I am very focussed on graduating college and applying to graduate school. I don’t feel like I need to go immediately, but I do plan on applying and exploring the options.
Is there anything we can do to support you or your cause? You guys are already so great! I look forward to seeing everyone in July.
